Certified Hand Therapist
15 years experience
Tracy Chism has long been fascinated by the intricacies of the hand and the challenge of treating its complicated problems. Her success with patients comes from her drive to provide the best possible care to her patients by maintaining a client centered approach, implementing evidence based practice, and her own love of living actively. Tracy grew up in Culver City, close to all the outdoor sports Southern California offers. For all the sports she loves—mountain biking, archery, in-line skating, dirt bike riding—the adrenaline rush is her favorite part. “I respect people who really go after what they love to do, and when they get hurt, I know how important it is to help them get back to that passion,” she says.
Tracy holds a doctorate degree in occupational therapy from Rocky Mountain University of Health Care Professions, 2015 and a Bachelor of Science degree in occupational therapy from California State University, Dominguez Hills, 2001. She worked as a lead hand therapist for seven years before accepting a position at Torrance Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Group. She is a member of the American Society of Hand Therapists and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
Tracy joined the Torrance Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Group therapy team in 2016 and has been very happy with the fun, friendly environment, motivated patients, and most of all, being able to work closely with the doctors. “It’s so much better and faster for my patients’ recoveries when I can just walk down the hall and talk to their doctors whenever anything need addressing,” she points out. “They’re all about the patient having a positive experience and getting better in a smart health care setting.”
