Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant
3 years experience
Derriel Almario’s favorite way to improve his health is through strength training and by playing basketball. “Even without an injury or obvious health issues,” he feels, “improving should always be the goal.” Becoming a licensed physical therapy assistant was an exciting way to combine his love of sports and the passion for medicine he got from a relative who had a long career as a nurse.
Derriel Almario holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in exercise science from Cal State Long Beach (CSULB), 2009 and an Associate in Arts degree in physical therapy from Cerritos College, 2011. He has interned in several settings, from inpatient to outpatient neurological rehabilitation.
In 2011, Derriel chose to practice at Torrance Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Group because “they give me the freedom to motivate my patients to the next level, so they feel better and stronger, and I know I’ll be back with a smile tomorrow.” When he’s not treating patients, Derriel makes time to pursue his other interests, food and photography.
